This weekend seen all Warriors Teams complete their first games of the new season. Heres an update on how all teams have got on over the past few weeks of season openers.
U12’s
Our U12’s are in the Crags Games and love competing and having fun at a young age. The Crags games have no score board as its all about getting involved in the sport and having fun! The next round of Crags games is this coming Sunday (29th of September)
U14’s
The U14 team traveled to West Calder to face off against Blaze and High Flyers. During both games the boys showed respect to all other teams and officials and showed real maturity in their play and conduct. Final scores both seen Warrior wins at the final buzzer, 37-17 against Blaze and 47-18 against High Flyers.
U16’s
U16’s Traveled to Perth with a new team and a new coach with 5 of the players still being U14. The boys got off to a terrific start beating Fife Steel in a strong and consistent performance. Our second game was against a tough Blaze team with neither team managing to create and hold a lead. With some turnovers in the 4th quarter Blaze managed to pull away to a very deserving 9 point win. During both games the boys gave their all and most importantly… had fun!
U18’s
Cup vs Ayrshire Tornadoes:
The first game of the U18 season was a Cup game away at Ayrshire. In our short history we have never managed to progress passed the first round of the Cup. Due to us having 2 teams in U18 Division 2 for our Cup games we can combine both these teams together. After a nervy first quarter the boys were up 12-7. The boys only got stronger as the game progressed as they kept up a high intensity defence and a fast paced offence that our opponents struggled to keep up with. Winning the game 60-39, this means for the first time ever we have progressed onto the second round! Where we will face Division 1 side Dunfermline Reign at home on Saturday 5th of October.
Thistle:
Our Thistle team traveled to South Lanarkshire to play Colliers in their opening fixture of the season and despite being shorthanded with only 8 players we were up going into the fourth quarter. The next 10 minutes of play were tense and intense with the Colliers having a great and loud home supporters the Colliers upper their play winning the final quarter 16-4 as we fell 56-53.
- Thanks to the Colliers for an awesome game and hospitality throughout
Caledonia:
A 5:45am start for our Caledonia squad as we travelled up to Inverness to play Highland Bears. The early start proved to be holding us back as despite dominating the game we were only up 10 at the half, having missed double digit amount of free throws. The start of the second half the boys flipped a switch and upper their intensity as they managed to stretch their lead further and further out as the game went on. Final score was 64-36 to the Warriors with every player getting on the scoresheet.
Senior Men:
Our Senior Men began their Lothian League season against Pleasance 47’s at Oriam. After a low scoring and feisty affair after one quarter the 47’s lead by just 2 points. However after that the 47’s showed all of their experience to pull away and won 58-27.
