In partnership with Tynecastle High School, its cluster primaries and basketballscotland we run a School of Basketball programme. The goal of the programme is to enhance the physical activity of everyone involved whilst creating a supportive and dynamic learning environment.
The School of Basketball programme runs from S1-S3 and is all about learning vital life skills while using basketball as the vehicle for this. In the first 2 years of the programme the participants complete the Dynamic Youth award (DYA) which gives them SCQF points as well as the basketballscotland Make It Happen course. In Year 3 of the programme they will have the opportunity to complete an SCQF Leadership course at a National 5 Level where they will be giving back into the community.

As well as our School of Basketball programme we have set up an enhanced version for the Cluster Primary Schools (known as Primary Academies) around Tynecastle for the P7’s to get a taste of the programme as we follow the same values of the CashBack School of Basketball Programme:
Dalry Golden Eagles, Balgreen Phoenix Flyers and Stenhouse Black Cats
During the School of Basketball journey there are many opportunity’s for some awesome experiences through basketball such as: Meeting Ex-Great Britain & Scotland Captain Kieron Achara, meeting ex-NBA players like Vladimir Radmanovic, being in the Edinburgh Evening News, taking part in basketball festivals with other schools from across the city and around the country, being interviewed by BBC Scotland, making a Sky Sports news report, meeting the Minister of Justice, taking part in the Jnr. NBA League or simply joining a Basketball Club and many many more!
